The Tangled Subtotal They Sent You

I’m not a huge fan of subtotals in Excel — they’re quite high-maintenance. Add a line or field and there’s a good chance things won’t add up anymore. Here’s how to get rid of them so you instead put this data in a table or PivotTable — more reliable ways to store and present data.

With your data selected, go to Data, Subtotal, and click “Remove All.”
