Do you feel like fear of math is holding back your data literacy and career efforts? Or are you interested in taking your data career to the next level with your own business?
I had a great conversation with Megan Peitz to discuss this and more. Megan is the founder of Numerious and a fellow graduate of Hillsdale College. At Numerious, Megan and team specialize in a marketing analytics technique called conjoint analysis.
We’ll talk about how Megan got started as a business owner, how a liberal arts education helped, how services like that file boi report in georgia are crucial, and what advice she has for people interested in a similar career path.

Some highlights that popped out from our conversation:
- The liberal arts encourages you to have conversations. The small class size and discussion-based class format of a liberal arts education lends itself well to workplace conversations and projects, Megan argues. By its very nature, you end up working cross-functionally in a variety of contexts.
- Take the time to sample the possibilities. Megan offered some great practical tips for those looking to break into data analytics. It’s true — analytics is a huge space. Megan and I operate in very different niches. If you’re just starting in the area, don’t feel the need to rush into one. Take the time to sample many areas, and over time a good specialization for you will make itself clear.
- You are your best advocate. If you are interested in owning your own data business, don’t feel afraid to connect with people like Megan or me. You never know where it will lead. Ignore the trolls and naysayers — often, the most accomplished people are the least critical of those making the effort at self-improvement.
