This event has concluded. Thanks again to hosts Alan Murray and Tea Kuseva and everyone who attended. A recording of the session follows:
I’m pleased to share that I’ll be presenting to the London (UK) Excel Meetup on June 23rd, 2021 (Alan Turing‘s birthday!) at 6pm London time (1pm Eastern US time). The session will be online and free.

Meetup description:
If you’re familiar with Excel, you’ve got the best home base for learning analytics. In this presentation, George Mount will demonstrate key statistical concepts from spreadsheets and shows users how to pivot existing knowledge into R and Python programming.
Attendees will pick up a framework for the analytics stack and see how to complement, rather than substitute their existing Excel knowledge.
The session will cover:
- How Excel fits in with other tools for a data analytics workflow
- As an Excel user, a clear learning path for picking up some of these other tools, primarily R and Python
- Some tangible use cases for combining these tools with Excel.
As you may guess from the title, the topic is adjacent to my book of the same name. That said, I will be sharing unique content not covered in the book. By the end of the presentation, I will have Excel users already coding in R and Python and seeing the possibilities for adding these tools to their analytics stack.
The repository for the meetup (under construction) is available here. A recording of the event will also be made available.
I’m so looking forward to this event and want to thank meetup organizers Alan and Tea for the opportunity. As I’ve written about before, a digital book tour can feel lacking. But the hospitality of the global Excel community has really breathed life into it.
